Solarpack was given the ‘Renewable Energy Project of the Year’ prize in the Cirec Awards 2016 presented on October 18 in Chile.

Solarpack has been given the ‘Renewable Energy Project of the Year’ prize for its Granja Solar PV project, which came in with the lowest price in the latest Chilean electricity tender.

The project is the result of Solarpack winning a contract for 280 GWh a year in Chile with a record-breaking offer of USD$29.10 per MWh.

Solarpack will build the 120 MWp Granja Solar PV plant through its subsidiary María Elena Solar SA. The plant is scheduled to start operating in 2019.

“This project has made history by achieving the lowest cost ever for a solar plant,” said Iñigo Malo de Molina, Solarpack’s Andean region director. “It is the result of the work we have been doing since 2008 in Chile, where we have helped develop technology and renewable energy in general.”
