Solarpack has reached a collaboration agreement with Aptus and the Municipal Corporation of Social Development of Calama with the aim of improving the quality of education in vulnerable schools in Chile.

The Municipal Corporation for Social Development of Calama is a private law entity that is responsible for the administration of two important areas of the municipality, education and health.

Aptus is a non-profit corporation whose mission is to improve the quality of education in vulnerable schools in Chile. It has an experienced team of professionals who are in charge of training and advising school’s principals and teachers, as well as developing pedagogical tools that support the work of teachers, such as daily lesson planning. In its 12-year history, Aptus has reached more than 10% of vulnerable schools in Chile and is one of the best rated institutions in the country.

The pandemic has had a major impact on student learning. According to a study by the World Bank and the Chilean Ministry of Education, learning loss can be as high as 68% in schools in lower socio-economic groups attending public schools.

Thanks to Solarpack's support, Aptus will work with the teachers of the 1st to 4th grade students of the Vado de Topater school in Calama, helping them to develop and implement techniques that will enable the students to acquire the necessary skills in language and communication and mathematics, two of the subjects where the lack of learning has been most accentuated due to the impact of COVID-19.

For Pedro Leiva, the school principal of the Vado de Topater school, this initiative will have a very significant impact on the students, as thanks to Aptus, and with the support of Solarpack, they will receive a quality education and improve their results.

This is a milestone for Solarpack as it is the company's first education collaboration agreement in Calama in which the Education area of the Municipal Corporation of Social Development is directly involved.
